There will be a luncheon meeting of the Levering Smith Chapter of the Naval Submarine League on Thursday, 21 September 2017 at 1130 at the Radisson at the Port hotel in Cape Canaveral (8701 Astronaut Blvd, Cape Canaveral, FL 32920). An open no-host cash bar is available. A social half hour will be from 1130-1200. The lunch menu is below. Seating is limited so please RSVP soon. Capt Wartell is a Florida native from right here in Merritt Island. Their brief bios are below. Please come and enjoy our submarine force camaraderie and fellowship.

CAPT Sager is a native of Dunedin, Florida. He graduated from USF with a BS in Civil Engineering. His initial submarine assignments were on USS Tennessee (SSBN734), USS West Virginia (SSBN 736), and XO of USS Connecticut (SSN 22). He commanded USS Louisville (SSN 724). He also served on the PACFLT ORSE board and the PACFLT Cruise Missile Support activity. He assumed command of NOTU in April of 2014 and his change of command is scheduled for 29 September.
Capt Jason Wartell is a native of Merritt Island, FL and graduated from the US Naval Academy in 1993. He completed an MS in Nuclear Engineering from Georgia Tech in 1995. His submarine assignments included USS Tunny (SSN 682), USS Hawkbill (SSN 666), USS Honolulu (SSN 718) and USS Alaska (SSBN 732). He commanded the Blue crew of USS Nebraska (SSBN 739). Under his command the Nebraska earned two Battle E’s and the STRATCOM Omaha Award.
